Students : Sunday : Xtreme

image
Xtreme is the weekly teaching environment for 6th through 8th grade students that meets during the 9:00 & 11:00 AM worship services at North Point. Each week students experience a mixture of worship, games, a challenging talk, and most importantly interaction with a small group.

Each hour is broken down into four parts:

Hang Time - Before each hour begins, students and leaders come into the Loft and hangout while listening to music, playing pool, hanging out on the sofas, and playing PlayStation, or just grabbing a donut and sitting around a table catching up on what's been going on.

Connect Time - The first 15-20 minutes of Xtreme is a combination of worship, video, or a sketch that focuses students' attention on what is being directed from the stage.

Teaching Time - Teaching Time is not your typical sermon! During this time, a speaker will give an "intro" to what the students will be discussing in small groups.

Discussion Time - This is the "meat" of what we desire to accomplish with Xtreme. Middle School students meet in small groups divided by grade and gender to discuss current issues or hot topics in their lives. These are led by small group leaders who are not just "Sunday School Teachers." These adults invest in these students' lives and encourage discussion rather than instruction.

The Middle School Ministry at North Point is an exciting and challenging place for students to come and learn about their relationship with God and each other. We have developed a strategy that will assist us in our goal to lead Middle School students into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
To create environments where middle school students can...
* Prioritize their relationship with Christ
* Influence their friends
* Experience personal ministry

Upcoming Middle School Events

Middle School Registration for Rising 6th graders (current 5th graders): April 7 - June 1

Parents can register their rising 6th graders by filling out the registration form that will be mailed to the homes of all active rising 5th graders. Parents can return the form to the UpStreet Information Desk, the Xtreme Information Desk, or mail it to the North Point offices (4350 Northpoint Parkway, Alpharetta, Georgia 30022).

UpStreet Invasion: May 18, 2008

We will come to the 5th graders and give them and their parents a glimpse into what the next three years will be like in Xtreme. Parents of rising 6th graders will be contacted and invited to this event. There is no need to register. Parents should take their students to UpStreet as usual and then come to the Attic for their part of the program.

No Xtreme: May 25, 2008 (Memorial Day Weekend)

Promotion Sunday for Rising 6th and 8th Graders: June 1, 2008

Rising 6th graders will now be a part of Xtreme and should report at 9:00 or 11:00 a.m. Rising 8th graders should go to "big church" with their parents and report to InsideOut at 4:30 that afternoon.

Boot Camp: June 20-22, 2008

Boot Camp is specifically designed for rising 6th graders. This is a great time for new students to connect relationally with their small groups and their leaders. They will become acquainted with the student culture and get an overview of the curriculum. Students will be focusing on the three vital relationships of their growing personal faith: intimacy with God, community with insiders, and influence with outsiders. Online registration will open at 5pm on Sunday, May 18.

Vertical Reality 7 (VR7): September 5-7
Vertical Reality 8 (VR8): September 12-14

Vertical Reality is the fall retreat for 7th and 8th graders where we focus on a growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ. This year's emphasis will be on the Bible and the importance of the Scriptures in the life of a believer. Weekends will be divided by grade to ensure that the maximum number of students can participate. This event will surely sell out (due to the limited number of beds at the camp), so check back and sign up as soon as the registration dates are posted.
